Touching down at Gatwick and heading for Greenwich’s maritime sights, the Cutty Sark or a riverside hotel? Minicabees offers a private, dependable Gatwick to Greenwich taxi service that puts ease and comfort first. Instead of wrestling with trains and Tube changes, choose a direct door-to-door transfer: your professional driver meets you at Gatwick North or South, helps with luggage and takes you straight to your Greenwich address — from the Old Royal Naval College to Greenwich Market and the Royal Observatory.

A private Gatwick to Greenwich ride is ideal for families, business travellers with tight schedules, and visitors carrying luggage or kit. Typical door-to-door journey times vary by traffic and terminal but usually sit around 60–95 minutes. We use live flight tracking and real-time traffic to pick the best route (commonly via the M23 → M25 → A2 or M25 → A12 corridors), so you arrive relaxed and on time.

Local tips for Greenwich arrivals

  • Greenwich has busy pedestrian areas and riverside restrictions. Tell us the hotel name, dock entrance or exact spot so we can plan the closest permitted kerbside drop.
  • If you’re visiting the Cutty Sark, the observatory or the O2, tell us which entrance you prefer — some locations have limited vehicle access.
  • Travelling during peak commuter hours or major events (festivals, boat races) can add time; we build sensible buffers when you tell us your schedule.
  • Need onward travel to Canary Wharf, London City Airport or central London? We can schedule multi-leg journeys to make your whole day run smoothly.

Gatwick Airport to Greenwich, via the M23 and M25.

Gatwick to Greenwich is about 44 miles and only around 59 minutes, which makes it the quickest central London journey we run from the airport despite being one of the longest in distance. Fixed fare quoted here, or call +44 20 8050 9020.

Why Greenwich is faster than it looks

Most Gatwick to London journeys crawl through the last few miles of city streets. Greenwich does not. The route runs the M23 to the M25, anticlockwise round the eastern side, then the A20 and A2 straight in from the south east. It is roughly 44 miles, but almost all of it is motorway or dual carriageway, and it comes in at about 59 minutes.
Compare that with Piccadilly, which is 43 miles and takes over 70 minutes. On this side of London, distance and time pull in opposite directions.

What tends to affect the time

The M25 eastern section

Generally freer than the western side, though it carries Dartford-bound traffic.

The A2 into Blackheath

The one genuinely urban stretch, and slow at both peaks.

Greenwich town centre

Narrow streets around the market that fill on weekends.

Event days at the O2

Concert nights change traffic across the whole peninsula for hours.

Dropping off in Greenwich

Greenwich is well outside the Congestion Charge zone, so that charge does not arise on this journey. Where any charge does apply on a route, whether that is the Congestion Charge, the Dartford Crossing or a Clean Air Zone, it is already inside the fixed fare we quote you. You never pay it separately to the driver.

The Old Royal Naval College and the Maritime Museum

Set-down on Romney Road or King William Walk.

Cutty Sark and the market

The immediate area is pedestrianised; your driver will stop at the edge, a short walk away.

The O2 and the peninsula

A different destination in practice, across the park and down towards the river. Tell us if that is where you are going.

The observatory

Up a steep hill in the park. The practical drop-off is at the park gates.

Practical details

Your driver meets you inside arrivals at whichever Gatwick terminal you land at, holding a name board. Meet and greet is available as an optional extra; on standard bookings your driver calls you after landing to confirm the pickup point. We track the inbound flight, so a delay moves the pickup, and the first 60 minutes after landing are free.
For vehicles, a saloon takes two with cases, an MPV suits four with full luggage, and the eight seater covers a family group. Greenwich has room to stop on most streets, so larger vehicles are rarely a problem here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Greenwich is well outside the zone, so it does not arise. Where a charge does apply on a route, it is already inside the fixed fare we quote.

Around 59 minutes for about 44 miles. It is the fastest of our central London runs from Gatwick, because nearly the whole route is motorway and dual carriageway rather than city streets.

Because the approach avoids central London entirely. A 31 mile trip to Piccadilly takes over 70 minutes; this 44 mile trip takes under an hour.

At the edge of the pedestrian area, a short walk from the ship itself.

Not quite. It is across the park on the peninsula. Book the O2 as your destination and we will route and price it properly.

We track it and move the pickup to your actual landing time, with 60 minutes of free waiting.

Cancellations need at least 24 hours' notice to be eligible for a refund, and refunds are subject to a £7 or 10% administration fee, whichever is higher. No refund is issued where notice is under 24 hours, or where the passenger does not show up. To cancel, email or call us and wait for written confirmation; until you have that, the booking still stands.
