Taxi from Swanage route details

The Sandbanks chain ferry crosses the mouth of Poole Harbour from Shell Bay to Sandbanks and saves a substantial detour. It runs frequently through the day, but it does not run all night, it stops for maintenance, and on summer weekends the queue on the Studland side can be long enough to wipe out the time it saves. It is also occasionally out of service altogether.
The alternative is the B3351 and A351 north through Corfe Castle to Wareham, then east on the A35 — around fifteen miles longer and usually reliable. For an early morning departure the ferry is often not running at all, and that route is the one we plan on by default. Past Poole everything joins the A31 and M27, and from there Heathrow and Gatwick are ordinary motorway drives.
Whichever route the day calls for, the fare you were quoted is the fare you pay — the ferry charge and any toll are already inside it.
