Paddington is the station people associate with Heathrow, and for a solo traveller with a small bag the train does the job. For four people with cases, or a five in the morning departure, or a hotel a few streets from the concourse, a car is the simpler answer — and the A40 is right there.

We run fixed-fare transfers to and from Paddington around the clock. The fare is agreed before you book, your flight is tracked, and the Congestion Charge and emission zone are already inside it.

Popular Paddington routes

Heathrow is the natural one. Luton is easier than most people expect, because the A40 joins the M1 without crossing town.

Heathrow

15miles

Typically thirty-five minutes to an hour and a quarter on the A40 and M4

Luton

32miles

Usually an hour and a quarter via the A40 and M1

Gatwick

32miles

Commonly an hour and a quarter

London City

12miles

Typically forty-five minutes to an hour across town

Stansted

42miles

Usually an hour and a half

Southampton Cruise Terminals

82miles

Central London

Why choose Minicabees for Paddington transfers?

The train is genuinely good from here, and we will not pretend otherwise. Where a car wins is luggage, groups, early starts and the hours when the service is thin — and on those, a fixed fare and a driver who waits are what matter.

One fixed fare per vehicle, agreed before you book

not per person, which is where the train gets expensive for a family

Congestion Charge and Ultra Low Emission Zone included, not added at the end

Flights tracked automatically, so delays and early landings move the pickup at no extra charge

Saloons, estates, MPVs and eight-seaters, matched to the luggage you tell us about

Licensed private hire drivers who know the station approaches and the hotel streets around it

Twenty-four hour booking, including the hours when no train runs

Taxi from Paddington route details

The A40 Westway starts a few hundred yards from the station, which is why Heathrow is quick from here — out to the M4 and into the terminals in about thirty-five minutes outside the peak. Terminal five is signed off the M25 and is usually a little faster than the central terminals.
Luton uses the same road in the other direction, the A40 to the M1, and avoids crossing central London altogether — around an hour and a quarter, and often better than the equivalent journey from further east. Gatwick and London City both mean going through or round town, and both should be allowed more time in the afternoon than the mileage suggests.
Around the station itself, Praed Street and London Street are busy and the taxi rank areas are restricted. For a pickup we will usually suggest a specific corner or hotel entrance rather than the concourse.

Station and hotel pickups

Paddington is surrounded by hotels, from the large ones on Praed Street and Craven Road to the smaller ones in Sussex Gardens and Norfolk Square. Give us the hotel name at booking and the driver will meet you at the entrance. If you are arriving by train and want collecting, tell us the service and platform and we will agree a meeting point outside the station rather than trying to stop on the forecourt.

Flight monitoring on every Paddington airport taxi

Give us the flight number and we watch it. Land early and the car is already there; get delayed and the pickup moves, with nothing extra to pay for the wait. The first hour after landing is included as standard.

Paddington taxi price guide

Fares are quoted per vehicle before you commit, from the real distance between your two postcodes and the vehicle you need. No meter and no per-passenger pricing. The Congestion Charge, emission zone, any toll, airport entry and the first hour of waiting are all inside the number you agree.

Around Paddington

We cover Paddington along with Bayswater, Lancaster Gate, Little Venice, Maida Vale, Westbourne Grove, Marylebone, Edgware Road and across to Notting Hill. Regular pickups are the station hotels, the offices at Paddington Basin and Merchant Square, St Mary's Hospital on Praed Street, and the residential streets around Sussex Gardens and Hyde Park Square.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The Congestion Charge and Ultra Low Emission Zone are both inside the fare you are quoted, along with any toll and the airport entry fee.

It depends on the trip. The train is hard to beat for one person with one bag. A car wins on luggage, on groups — the fare is per vehicle, not per person — and at the hours when no train is running.

Around 15 miles via the A40 and M4, usually about thirty-five minutes outside the peak and up to an hour and a quarter through it.

Easier than most people expect. The A40 joins the M1 without crossing central London, which makes it about an hour and a quarter — often quicker than the same journey from the east of the city.

Not on the concourse — the approaches are restricted. Tell us your train and we will agree a specific meeting point just outside the station, or collect you from your hotel entrance instead.

Yes. Give us the flight number when you book and we track it, so an early landing or a delay moves the pickup automatically at no extra charge.

Yes. We pick up across Paddington, Bayswater, Lancaster Gate, Little Venice, Maida Vale, Westbourne Grove, Marylebone and Edgware Road on the same fixed-fare basis.
