The single most useful thing to know about central London airport runs is that geography beats mileage. From the west — Kensington, Notting Hill, Paddington, Mayfair — Heathrow is quick and Luton is easy on the A40. From the east and the City, London City and Stansted come out well ahead. South of the river, at Waterloo or London Bridge, Gatwick needs no crossing and is the natural choice.
The hour matters almost as much. Before seven in the morning, most of these journeys run at their best time; between four and seven in the evening, almost all of them run at their worst. We set the pickup from both facts rather than from an average.
