Taxi from Ascot route details

Heathrow is reached either on the A329 and A308 through Windsor and Datchet, or on the M4 from junction six or ten depending on where in Ascot you start. Both are short. Terminal five is the closest of the terminals from here, which is why the drive can be genuinely quick even at rush hour. Gatwick takes the M3 to the M25 and round to the M23, normally about an hour. Central London is either the M4 and A4 or the M3 and A316 through Richmond, and the choice depends entirely on the hour.
The local variable is the racecourse. On a race day, and especially during Royal Ascot in June, the roads around the High Street, the A329 and Winkfield Road carry far more traffic than usual and the timings above stop applying. We plan around the meeting calendar rather than pretending it is an ordinary Tuesday.
